Documentation And Fees For Weddings In Paphos
The procedures and documents required by Paphos Municipality to get married in Paphos, Cyprus are:
A) Both Passports
B) If you possess British nationality and you are single people, a certificate (affidavit on Letter Headed Paper) from a solicitor of your country confirming that you are free to get married. The Affidavit must state your Full name and Passport number. This certificate is acceptable up to 6 months limit.
C) If you are divorced you have to bring also with you the original Divorced Certificate which must be final and absolute. In addition you must have the certificate mentioned in paragraph (B) above stating that you are Divorced and Free to marry.
D) If you are widow/widower you have to bring with you the original Death Certificate. In addition you must have the certificate mentioned in paragraph (B) above, stating that you are a Widow/er and Free to marry.
E) If one of you is under 18 years old you must bring in addition the consent of your father, which must be certified by a solicitor of your country.
F) Fees for the Special Marriage: €281.92 (Special marriage means marriage within 14 days after the date of application).
G) Usual marriage fees: €128.15 (the marriage is celebrated, 16 days after the date of your application).
H) Nothing can be done in advance. The application is accepted when you are both present. The working days are Monday to Friday and we can accept applications before 10.00 hrs.
I) You need to present your documentation at the relevant Town Hall at least THREE CLEAR WORKING DAYS before your wedding. So for example, if you plan to marry on a Tuesday, you need your paperwork at the Town Hall on the preceding Thursday at the latest. Watch out for the Public Holidays in Cyprus, there's many more of them than in the UK.
Wedding Ceremonies at locations other than Paphos Municipality Town Hall
A) The Municipality undertakes to conduct wedding ceremonies as its discretion in public and private venues, indoors or outdoors, outside its seat (the Town Hall) but within the boundaries of its jurisdiction.
B) Each application will be examined on its own merits on the basis of specific criteria (venue, obligations by the Municipality etc).
C) The sum of €350.00 shall be paid as compensation for offering this special service. This sum is in addition to any fees paid for the marriage ceremony, as they apply at any given time.
D) Preparations for the wedding ceremony and managing problems arising from organising and seeing the ceremony through (finding and renting a venue, decoration for the venue, photographs/ video transport of people etc) shall be the exclusive responsibility of those who apply to be married and /or their representatives.
E) The application to conduct a wedding ceremony outside the Town Hall shall be submitted in writing to the following address at least one month prior to the desired date set for the wedding.
